Lou is the 2009 Cavett Award Winner

And what does that mean? The Cavett Award is given annually by the National Speakers Association and is considered the highest honor a speaker can receive. It was established in 1979 and named for the founder of NSA, Cavett Robert.

In NSA's own materials, it is described like this: "It is awarded annually to the member whose accomplishments reflect outstanding credit, honor, and admiration of NSA and the entire speaking profession…and whose actions of sharing, guiding, and inspiring other members most closely parallel that of our founder, Cavett Robert."

This award was especially meaningful for Lou because it was presented to him on July 21st by Michael McKinley, last year’s recipient of the award, and one of Lou's closest friends in the association. In announcing the award, Mike described Lou as "Articulate, genuine, funny, concise, loyal, interested and interesting…one who gives countless hours to fellow NSA members seeking to improve their craft."
